Ka’Tiera Truett-
My name is Ka'Tiera and I am a trained birth professional. to the Raleigh-Durham & the Triangle area. I also have completed school at Southwest Tech’s Direct Entry Midwifery Program.
I am a mom of three and I have given birth to two babies as a surrogate. I really enjoy helping families all around and I believe giving birth is such a beautiful moment. I view birth as a sacred and natural event that should unfold without unnecessary interference. I trust in each mother's innate intuition, which can become fragile if met with indifference or disrespect during pregnancy and labor. That's why I prioritize open dialogue, informed consent, and education throughout the prenatal, birth, and postpartum stages. My aim is to ensure my clients feel secure, knowing I hear their needs and am there to support them, while also using my expertise to step in when necessary.
My commitment is to my clients; they aren't here to serve me. I dedicate the time needed to help them comprehend the birth process, explore various scenarios, and feel ready and informed before the big day. I advocate for a proactive approach to a healthy pregnancy and work to prevent issues before they arise.
Our Offerings
During Pregnancy
As your birth support companion, I am here for you! Available from 8am-8pm for texting, or 24/7 for emergency phone support. We will meet twice during pregnancy at around 32 and 36 weeks to go over your birth plan, comfort measures, your postpartum plan, and any evidence based information that you desire.
During Labor
Once your labor has started, we will assess if you’re ready for me to come to you at your home or your place of birth. I will be there for your labor, supporting you physically, emotionally, and informationally to help you to have the birth you desire. Once baby is here, I will stay for 1-2 hours to help with feeding and to make sure everyone is doing well.
During Postpartum
After you have gotten settled in for a few days at home, I will come visit you to make sure feeding is going well and you are healing, and to discuss your birth. We will also have time to marvel at your newborn and all that you accomplished! Then I will check back in with you at various points throughout the next 6 weeks to answer any questions or share resources. I am available for those 6 weeks for phone calls or video chats to trouble shoot breast/chest-feeding, sleep issues, or general parent/baby care, or to refer out to other perinatal professionals as needed
